Spartan Wrestlers -> Team USA

Spartan Combat RTC athletes will be representing Team USA across the globe in the coming months at World Championships.

At the Senior level, Vito Arujau continued his winning streak, defeating fellow Cornellian Nahshon Garrett in two thrilling matches at Final X in Newark, New Jersey to clinch the 61 kg freestyle spot for the Red, White, and Blue. He will compete in Serbia in September.

In U23 action, a pair of Spartan competitors will return to the World Championships after taking the mat in 2022. Jacob Cardenas won a Silver medal in freestyle at 92 kg a year ago, and he will look to get one step higher on the podium in Finland in October. Phil Moomey will once again wrestle Greco Roman at 60 kg, aiming for his first U23 medal. Julian Ramirez won the U23 Nationals at 74 kg with a dramatic comeback against All-American Peyton Hall in the semis, followed by two straight wins over Nittany Lion Wrestling Club's Matt Lee after dropping the opening bout of the finals series. However, Senior level third placer Keegan O'Toole will likely take the U23 slot, as is allowed by USA Wrestling rules.

In 2021, Meyer Shapiro earned a Cadet World Championship at 65 kg. After pure dominance at the U20 US Open and in the U20 World Team Trials finals series against Nebraska's Antrell Taylor, Shapiro will look for another World gold - this time at

U20 70 kg in August in Poland.

Kyle Dake, a four-time freestyle World Champion with Spartan Combat RTC, will look for number five at 74 kg in Serbia.
